Award-Winning Books and Films on Display at Asian Library

By phchow on June 23, 2025

Looking for your next great read or film? Come explore a new display at UBC Asian Library that celebrates award-winning works from across Asia. This multilingual collection brings together literature and cinema that have received major national and international recognition.

Currently, the display features books and films in Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, and Korean. You will find Nobel Prize-winning authors like Rabindranath Tagore, Yasunari Kawabata, Mo Yan, and Han Kang, as well as acclaimed movie directors. The selection highlights the diversity and creativity of storytelling across languages and cultures.

Among the featured literary awards on display are the Mao Dun Literature Prize (茅盾文学奖), Vyas Samman (व्यास सम्मान), Akutagawa Prize (芥川龍之介賞), and Daesan Literary Award (대산문학상). On the film side, visitors will find titles recognized by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival (台北金馬影展), Filmfare Awards in India, Japan Academy Film Prize (日本アカデミー賞), and Baeksang Arts Award (백상예술대상).

The books and DVDs in the display cases are all available to borrow. If something interests you, feel free to recall it or ask at the circulation desk. We encourage viewers to visit the displays on both the ground floor and upper floor of the Asian Library. Our selection of awards and items will be updated periodically, so we encourage you to visit us regularly to discover new additions!
